Dr. David G. Lemak
Dr. David Lemak is certified by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and specializes in arthroscopy and reconstruction of the knee, shoulder, hip and elbow. He is the second-generation member of his family to practice at the Alabama Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center, founded over 20 years ago, by his father Dr. Lawrence Lemak, and has been with Lemak Sports Medicine since its inception. Dr. Lemak currently practices at our Birmingham location and performs surgeries at Trinity Medical Center. His interest lies within sports medicine, arthroscopy and resurfacing, joint replacement, research and development.Dr. Lemak is a graduate of Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in May 1994. He then obtained his medical degree at The University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham in May 1999. In 2004 Dr. Lemak completed his Orthopedic residency at The University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile, Alabama. In addition, he completed a one year Orthopedic Sports Medicine fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute and Alabama Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in July 2005.
Dr. Lemak has several professional affiliations including memberships in many of the orthopedic entities at the state, regional, and national level. He currently serves as the team physician for Clay-Chalkville Middle School. He has participated in activities for NFL Europe, numerous screenings and high school physicals for Birmingham area institutions.
During his collegiate days, Dr. Lemak served as an algebra tutor for children in inner-city schools and has also served as a little league soccer coach during his medical school training.
Dr. Lemak has two children - David, Jr. and Sarah. In his spare time, Dr. Lemak enjoys spending time with his family, deep sea fishing and relaxing at the lake.
