Dr. Jose J. Echenique
Dr. Jose Echenique is fellowship trained in Orthopedic Sports Medicine by the American Sports Medicine Institute and is Lemak Sports Medicine’s only Spanish speaking Orthopedic Surgeon.
Dr. Jose Echenique joined Lemak Sports Medicine & Orthopedics in August, 2010 and practices at our Gardendale location. Dr. Echenique specializes in sports medicine orthopedics.
Dr. Echenique attended University of Puerto Rico for Pre-Med where he made Dean’s List throughout his college years. Dr. Echenique then continued his education at Dartmouth Medical School and graduated with honors. Dr. Echenique completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at George Washington University.
Dr. Echenique is fellowship trained in Orthopedic Sports Medicine by the American Sports Medicine Institute. Prior to joining Lemak Sports Medicine & Orthopedics, Dr. Echenique was an on-site physician and provided coverage for athletes in public schools of the District of Columbia, Hueytown High School, Fultondale High School and Concordia College. Dr. Echenique was also an instructor at the Summer Anatomy Program at Dartmouth Medical School.
Dr. Echenique is fluent in English and Spanish and proficient in German. Dr. Echenique is currently not married and in his spare time he enjoys traveling, skeet and trap shooting, snowboarding and playing the drums.
