Dr. Stan Faulkner

Dr. J. Stanford Faulkner, Jr.

Dr. Stan Faulkner began his professional career at the practice founded by his father, James Stanford Faulkner, Sr., M.D. Dr. Faulkner, a second generation Orthopaedic surgeon, followed his father’s recommendation to specialize in spine surgery.

In September 2010 Dr. Stanford Faulkner reunited with his former partners, Dr. Lawrence Lemak and Dr. Scott Appell at Lemak Sports Medicine and Orthopedics. Dr. Faulkner was a partner at Alabama Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center for 14 years prior to its dissolution and is the founder of Alabama Spine Institute. His specialty practice in spine surgery compliments and contributes to the scope of care offered by Lemak Sports Medicine.

Dr. Faulkner is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and a member of the North American Spine Society. Dr. Faulkner is a diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners and is licensed by the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners. He is a member of the AMA, the Alabama Medical Association and The Herodicus Society.

Dr. Faulkner received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Auburn University and continued his education at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. He completed his flexible internship and General Surgery residency at Baptist Medical Center now Trinity Medical Center. His residency in Orthopaedic Surgery was completed at University of Alabama in Birmingham. He completed his Spine fellowship at The Leatherman Spine Center at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky.

Alabama Spine Institute, a division of Lemak Sports Medicine is now located at the Birmingham clinic.
