Dr. William (Will) H. Burkhalter joined Lemak Sports Medicine & Orthopedics in August 2010 and practices at our Trussville location.
Dr. Will Burkhalter joined Lemak Sports Medicine & Orthopedics in August 2010, and practices at our Trussville location. Dr. Burkhalter specializes in Primary Care and Sports Medicine Orthopedics.
Dr. Burkhalter received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Furman University and was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Fraternity. Dr. Burkhalter graduated with Cum Laude honors and continued his education at the Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine. Dr. Burkhalter completed his residency in Family Medicine at The University of South Alabama in 2008 and completed his fellowship at The University of South Alabama Department of Family Medicine, and Baldwin Bone and Joint, P.C. in 2010. Dr. Burkhalter was certified by the American Board of Family Medicine in 2008 and received CAQ in Primary Care Sports Medicine in 2010.
Prior to joining Lemak Sports Medicine & Orthopedics, Dr. Burkhalter completed a Sports Medicine fellowship and worked as a team physician for The University of South Alabama and Daphne High School. In 2010, Dr. Burkhalter was the Co-Medical Director for the Mobile First Light Marathon and a member of the medical staff for the Azalea Trail Run. Currently, Dr. Burkhalter serves as team physician for Hewitt-Trussville High School.
Dr. Burkhalter’s professional memberships include the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, American Academy of Family Physicians and the Alabama Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Burkhalter received his licensure from the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners and the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners.
Dr. Burkhalter is married to Sharla Burkhalter and in his spare time, Dr. Burkhalter enjoys playing golf, tennis, exercising and spending time with his family.
