Dr. Michael Patterson
Dr. Michael Patterson is the newest physician to Lemak Sports Medicine, but is no stranger to practicing in Central Alabama or in Birmingham. Dr. Patterson oversees our Alabaster location at 1 First Street North Alabaster, Alabama 35007. Alabaster office phone number is 358-9120.
Dr. Patterson is a graduate of Florida State University, where he was a defensive back under Head Coach Bobby Bowden from 1985 to 1987, and was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He continued his education at the University Of Florida College Of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida. Dr. Patterson completed his Residency in Orthopaedics at Orlando Regional in June of 1999, and went on to sub-specialize in Sports Medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham where he completed his Fellowship in the summer of 2000.
Dr. Patterson has been instrumental in the care of athletes since he started practice in 2000.
During his fellowship with Dr. Lawrence Lemak, he helped provide care for Auburn University, Samford University, and Miles College. In addition, Dr. Patterson also has been involved with the NFL Europe League, the newly formed United Football League, and the care and rehabilitation of their athletes. Dr. Patterson has also provided sports medicine coverage for Pelham and Bryant High Schools. Being a former Division I athlete, Dr. Patterson understands the need every patient, parent, and coach needs, and knows the best and effective manner in which to provide care.
Dr. Patterson currently serves as Team Physician for Thompson High School and Middle School, as well as Kingwood Academy. He is also Co-Chair of the Medical Advisory Board for the National Center for Sports Safety, and is a member of the Shelby County and Chilton County Chambers of Commerce, as well as the Pelham Rotary Club.
Dr. Patterson and his wife Shauna (who is also a Registered Nurse) have three children. In his spare time, Dr. Patterson is an avid hunter and enjoys playing golf.
